
Joshua C. Dunne was born September 15, 1980 in Roswell, NM. Joshua attended Las Cruces High School and graduated from Silver High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 2000 and became crew chief of the Ch-53 Sea Stallion Helicopter. Joshua served until 2005 and was honorably discharged with recognition of various medals and achievements including the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal.
In 2012 Josh married Melanie Dunne and together they have two children, Johnathan Alexander and Isabella Ireland. Josh graduated from New Mexico State University in 2016 and was a current full-time graduate student studying social work at the time of his passing. Josh was dedicated to serving and helping others in his community; he met with homeless veterans, volunteered for various organizations, and worked to assist student veterans like himself. Josh was dedicated to his family above all, surmounting his own expectations as a father and husband.
Josh was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in 2005. He struggled through most of his adult life with the symptoms and stigma presented by PTSD; though he fought hard, his battle was lost on December 2, 2016 after being diagnosed with a Traumatic Brain Injury that same year. His never ending passion for assisting others never diminished; in fact that was what empowered him to continue living. His love for helping others lives on with the Josh Dunne Organization, Mission Ready - founded by his wife, Melanie and long-time friend, Sandra.
Many people knew Josh Dunne by his energy, large presence, and ability to fill a room with laughter and fun. This is the Josh he would want to be remembered as. This is the Josh that will continue to inspire other veterans and their families who are struggling too.
